Fixed Spelling

I uploaded .84 which should fix some annoying spelling errors in the graphics and demo.

I have been busy working at Verizon. I am also working on oAuth build to make our application more secure. We won't see another major upload for a couple weeks, as I finish the oAuth upgrade. This will make the site super secure ajax application, saying that your credentials won't have to be passed to my server, they get signed and hashed. And I will add ssl shortly.

I have been bug squashing and refining some features. I added Startouch collocation info into our site. They have been fantastic to work with and wanted to make a note of that.

Improvements to .078

List of things I fixed up.
- I improved the ability to index our site.
- I fixed bugs in our radio widget, check box widget, and list box.
- I rewrote the calendar to be more efficient and fixed a click on day bug.
- Fixed several other items that wouldn't make sense.

New Feature - Day of week Choice

I have added a new feature to the habit editor and trainer. You can now choose what day of week the habit falls on. So if you only want to exercise Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, that habit will only show up on those days.

I added Activity Ratio to the friends list. This shows your friend's ratio of activity in the last 21 days in working on his habits. Any activity is better than no activity.

I fixed some bugs the last couple of days.

One of them being when a user deletes todos in habits. This messed up the completion counts and labels on the calendar. I have fixed this. If your getting a a completion count problem let me know.

I have worked all weekend on Gone Vertical code.

Logging this for my history. I have currently wrote 20,571 lines of code.
- I fixed a statement widget query bug. This widget is nifty because it can encourage you every time you load your habit inputs.
- I added lots new tool-tips, which will hopefully help until I get the helps system built.
- I started on a new way to add habits but wasn't able to finish the logic yet.
- I fixed editing several sub widgets. One can now edit the attributes of the money, time and couple other widgets.
- I have several other habit input widgets in development, and have not completed that deal with other forms of measurement of ones possible increase or decrease in behavior.
- I have further planned the social networking system, so we can integrate with other web service platforms.

I fixed a couple things in the calendar. I fixed the spelling error in the home page images. I am looking forward to the weekend, to see if I can finish a brand new module that has been in development for sometime.

Things are real busy for me because I am making some money working at verizon as a contractor. I woke up early this morning around 3:30am, so I decided to get a few more of the bugs worked out. Joel and I are super, super excited about some of the features we have been dreaming up for our application.

Launched .070

I added screenshots to the homepage. Fixed completion number of successful times in the habit trainer. And added a auto demo login. See how that works. All I had time for this weekend.

We are making progress in looking for an investor.

Updated the homepage text. Added how it works. Ranked the Template habits, so supers can move the order around. Groundwork is laid for several other objectives. Looking forward to implementing those. Email server on the mend. Lots more features in the works :).

Mail Server Failed (Rebuilt)

I spent all weekend with two drives to ferndale. Dang thats a long drive. On the 4th my mail server froze agian. Always on the day you don't want it to. Drove up, restarted. Next morning agian, drove up, this time reinstalled it. Thinking that it most likely was a software glitch. Nope. Froze yet agian while mirroring the data. So rebuilt galatic as the mail server. Contemplating what to do about the deep freeze starlight went into.

Contracting partime with verizon, well more or less been putting in 10 hours days there for some money. I need some angels to invest, so I can take the product to the next stage.

Servers are moved

Got the servers moved to startouch.com. They have been great to work with. I have more burstable bandwidth available.

Moving Servers

Today, is the day to move the servers if all goes well to Starband Ferndale, Washington Hosting facility. I have had enough of doing it on my own. I want a bigger pipe for my application to grown in. I do not want my application to experience latency due to bandwidth.

Here is my simple technical array:
1. Dell PowerVault MD1000 Rack
2. Dell PowerEdge 2950 Quad Core Xeon 1.6GHz, 1066MHz, 4GB Buffered, - Database server
3. Dell PowerEdget SC1435 Dual core 2210 1GHZ, 4GB Buffered, - Web server
4. Custom Built AMD64 - Email Server
5. Custom Built AMD64 - Design Server, Web Server, Ancillary Services - Redundant backup

Thats a little snapshot of what I am starting out with. It costs me about $400 bucks a month, with comcast $179, and electricity consuming the rest in air conditioning and providing for servers. Starband has a better deal because of there bandwidth. Its a bit of a drive, but should only need to do that every so often.

Building Confindence

May 31, 2008, I took off the security login to http://GoneVertical.com, our beloved project I have been working on. I shared it with my wife Angie, daughter Eva 9, and Isaac, 7. After seeing Angie setup the account on her own made me feel great. Shes not one to have patients with my programs I make. She setup habits for her self mostly with ease. I fixed the few things already that came up and where annoying for her. Then my daughter Eva gets excited about it. Which just overwhelms me with excitement. I didn't have to drag her to do it which was so fun. She added something like clean her room, feed the animals as habits. Having my Angie and Eva sign up was incredible for me. The use is becoming a practical everyday tool to help change their life's. That gave me some new gas, new confidence that what I Go the world needs. This isn't for everyone. But this everyday tool of asking you helps me focus on my daily non-habitual tasks. And even task that I wish I could be better at.

I need a daily tracker, b/c I am the most inconsistent lazy fellow around especially when it comes to extra betterment for me. So I started logging my Habits progress of walking everyday several months back. After seeing my progress apear over and over, I feel better about my self. I feel that I can actually achieve exercising everyday. I have lowered my blood pressure, created an enjoyment for walking. Physical activity is no longer a bear. I appreciate the life while walking. Its not just excersice that you get out of walking, I found. You can think, pray, and dream. You mental health gets gas on the walk.

Walking everyday was the seed of change, which I am enjoying every day.

Anxiety

The other day our big fridge went out. I was bummed when I heard Angie, my wife say that. So Angie moved all our food to my brother in laws across the street. I nearly got the friends approve system done that day.But I had to quit early because I was so worked up over loosing our fridge. I thought it was going to be a money drain. Lower my equity I am using to build this project another month, when I have 3 left. It worked out friends of ours had friends, that gave us a fridge. We got it, and he dented the truck doing so. I hope to help them out and fix that in the future. I don't have any extra money now. So that will have to wait. Wow Josie and Andy were gracious in helping us out get the fridge from there friends. That was a neat blessing.

I am worrying about the future more and more. I worry about loosing all that I accumulated here. Not that I could do with out our house and my truck and other things that I really don't need. Really its just stuff we are managing. I hate to have to say to my daughter that she can't have any more animals, we have to move. We could ask my Mom and Dad to keep them. But all these things come racing through the mind when you get down and things get tough. They cause me anxiety. I am learning through all of it to trust God more. I am having to persevere to get the last features built into the project while I don't feel so hot. I have to constantly ask for grace, peace, and strength to make it further. I am hoping this time in my life passes quickly. Its a challenging time for me. I have been humbled in my frailness at times.

Nevertheless, I intend to complete this project.

Beta Coming

We are racing towards beta release. We are aiming to release the beta May 31st. I am hoping to have the friends networking module done this week. I have reworked my account system. Hopefully the last week, I can concentrate on better style. I will be so excited to release our application to the public for testing. I am anxiously excited. Lots more todo, but I think I can make it.

Friends Walls Going Up

I was thinking on my walk today, that every new module I create takes far more work and energy mentally than adding onto and even maintaining. Even adding new features is much more fun than creating something from scratch.

I have started the friends, social framework for our application. With GWT I don't think it will take me but a day to have all the walls up in the house.

Gone Vertical Framework

I am excited. I know have most of the framework complete. I will be back at adding more features, and enhancing the current set until I make it to beta, which doesn't seem to far off. I will be integrating social system into my framework which seems a bit daunting to me at the moment. I hope to move through it quickly.

I am looking forward to business planning tomorrow with Joel. Soon we will be looking for investors.

I got roughly three months left. The end of my money is close. To Patent or Bust.

Provisional Patent Achieved - Wahoooo!

Gone Vertical LLC now has a provisional patent. Which is really, really excited about! We have a few more things todo before releasing the application online to the public. Like figure out how many sessions at once we can handle on the servers. I have a few more bugs, help items, features to do before releasing as well. It could take another month to two months. Hopefully sooner.

Waiting For Provisional Patent

Joel and I are waiting for our provisional patent, anxiously. We are excited about it. We are going to try to raise investment money for the project. As soon as we get the patent number, we are going to open our site up for previewing.

By the way, I am doing much better since I cut out some hours of intensified work. Basically took the weekend off. How nice was that.

Panick Attack Galore

Dang, yesterday sucked. Replaying the events. I drank coffee, delayed breakfast, drank more coffee, delayed lunch, drank some more coffee, then by 4:30pm, the panic sensation set in. I tell you what, I dread with all my being. I was on a roll before 4:30pm, pumping out code. Got the feedback widget posted to gwt-examples, and finished on my GoneVertical.com site. At the same time we are waiting for the attorney to submit the provisional patent for our project. At the same time my pictures are glitching on my home raid array. Samba glitching a read write error. (We should hear back today about our provisional patent). I am like one of those wind up toys. I start winding and winding and winding, and eventually, you wind to far, and it breaks. Well, thats what I did. I felt like screaming, wantint to run out of control. Waiting for my body to go crazy. I was crazy. I feel like just quiting everything when this happens. I felt overloaded with caffeine, excitement, disappointment, worries and the feeling of failure sets in. Like a wave, it rolled over me. It terrifying, snowballing down the crazy hill. Its a panick attack in a doctors def. But for me its the dread of my life. So looking back, I am making adjustments work schedule. But I am going to start calling it my journey.

I have been loading up on coffee, pushing hard, pumping out code. I have wrote over 13114 lines of code so far. Getting closer to beta. In any case, I am not continuing this pace, but changing ways, so I can go the distance.

New Goals

Now that we have a refined course, do or die, for building Gone Vertical application with a patent, we have given our self goals. We have passed our alpha version 1 and version 2 now. We are heading towards beta for our application. We are adding new features daily. I have approximately 4 months more of equity to live on, which gives me two more months of concentrated effort for Gone Vertical. April we are going to establish our patent disclosure. We also want to hit beta stage at the end of April. I think its possible because we spent so many hours flushing out our widgets/components with our application. In May we aim to launch our application in small groups. We are really looking forward to that. Nevertheless we have lots more work, more features, more cool stuff to introduce. To build or bust.

Been Doing

Well, its been a while. I have been doing, doing, doing, coding. I have partnered with Joel Wright, and we have been building an internet application we think will make a difference. Can't say much yet, we are working on the patent for it. We have paid the attorney the fee for getting the first stage done, the provisional. Now we have to write out all the specs of our application and hand that in to the attorney so he can submit our provisional patent.
